Hundreds of young people gathered in Cardiff to demand action on climate change and raise awareness of the issue.

It’s one of a number of climate strikes taking place throughout the UK today with the aim of putting pressure on the government ahead of the 2019 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as the COP25 talks.

The day was also chosen as it is known in the consumer calendar as “Black Friday” and protesters set out to discourage spending and consumerism.

The campaign 'School Strike for Climate' was sparked in 2018 when Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg missed a day of school calling for the government to take stronger action on environmental issues.

School and university students marched through the city centre before ending their strike at the Senedd.
