Climate change: Cardiff students
strike for action
Hundreds of Cardiff students gathered outside City Hall today to demand urgent action on climate change.

The campaign 'School Strike for Climate' was sparked in 2018 when Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg missed a day of school calling for the government to take stronger action on environmental issues.

Since then, her campaign has gathered momentum all over the world – including the UK, where more than 350,000 pupils took part in various school strikes across the country over the past year.

Now, with a General Election fast approaching, Cardiff’s students are taking their opportunity to call upon UK leaders to place greater emphasis upon the climate emergency in their policies.

School and university students marched through Cardiff city centre before ending their strike at the Senedd.
