Climate change: Hundreds miss school to protest

By Tyler Edwards

“What do we want? Climate justice. When do we want it? Now!”

These are just some of the words protesters chanted when they marched through the centre of Cardiff today.

Children took the day off school to take part in the global Youth Strike 4 Climate protests, instigated by teenage climate change activist, Greta Thunberg.

17-year-old Ryan, who attended the march, said: "What we want is for the government to start acting. They've declared a climate emergency, they've said all these things, but they've done nothing."

With a UK General Election approaching, campaigners marched from City Hall to the Senedd to demand that ministers consider climate change in their policies.

Protests in Syndey also took place after deadly wildfires burnt around 2.5 million acres of land earlier this month.
